2018 | Tinos, Cycladen
T-Oinos Clos Stegasta Mavrotragano
According to Greek mythology, Tinos was the battleground for a war between the gods and giants. The many boulders on the island are the last hidden parts of this bloody battle. You can find this rugged landscape in the middle of the Clos Stegasta vineyard of winery T-Oinos. Like the gods, the winemakers are also battling the elements. Because of all the attention, this produces great wines such as the T-Oinos Clos Stegasta Mavrotragano. After harvesting, the wine is aged in oak barrels for at least 2 years. This makes for a detailed, almost exorbitant red wine. Lots of dark fruits, vanilla, cocoa and pepper predominate. An incredibly delicious drink of the gods.

Hidden in the north of the Cyclades lies the island Tinos. With its moon-like landscape and rocks, you would think it is not really an ideal place to locate a winehouse. The legend says that the God of wind Aeolus is living on the island. Tough conditions really. Despite all this Alexandros Avantangelos chose Tinos as the location for the biggest adventure of his lifetime. After the necessary preparations he planted the first T-Oinos vines in 2002. Covered by the stone ‘terrace’ the plants grew into a full-fledged vineyard of world class level. And even now the team is coddling the vines. You’ll taste that love in every sip you take!
